Biography
Patrizia Shelabarger was born to an Italian mother and an American father. She spent her childhood between the United States and Italy—an intercultural duality that would strongly influence her creative style.
From an early age, she showed an interest in fashion and began her career as a women’s clothing designer. In the early 2000s, she created her own brand characterized by bright colors, floral decorations, oriental references, and a playful approach to design. Her collections gained visibility both in Italy and abroad, including a girls’ line presented at Pitti Immagine Bimbo.
Where Color and Craft Become Vision
In 2008, Shelabarger returned to the design world, shifting her focus toward eyewear. She founded the brand Patty Paillette (now also known as Patty Shelabarger Eyewear), centered on handcrafted frames made in Italy.
The brand is distinguished by:
• colorful and imaginative patterns encapsulated in acetate,
• retro shapes inspired by the 1960s and 1970s,
• references to pop culture and Japanese aesthetics,
• strong emphasis on Italian artisanal quality.
Her collections are regularly showcased at international trade fairs such as MIDO Milan and SILMO Paris, and distributed in niche optical boutiques.
